Coalesce is the result of the first of three collaborations between Chinese designers, Luyi Bai and Yanqing Lin, and British designer, Lily McStocker. The typeface seeks to celebrate the typographical cultures of the respective countries of its creators, infusing a geometric latin base with serif-like flourishes deriving from the art of traditional Chinese woodblock. Although the typeface works best at large scale, due to the decorative details of the characters, text is still legible at a small point size. Coalesce has a distinct style and would be appropriate for projects in which a geometric/organic contrast is desired.
