Real Dream
02/2020--03/2020
Where are we when we fall asleep every night? Are dreams real? Are dreams reflections of the real world? Why do some dreams keep recurring time and time again? And what do they mean? While developing this project, I found that dreams connect to our subconscious, and react to the physical environment and our body, or even hint at solutions to our problems. It could also help improve the audience’s awareness of mental health issues.
Inspired by the Penrose triangle, the ‘impossibility in its purest form’, I created a twisted dream door to illustrate the transition between reality and dream.
I surveyed some persons around me, and summed up 7 common dreams. I listed their meanings by referencing the traditional Chinese oneiromancy theory ZhouGong, and an article written by Bertilla Niveda, 7 Common Dreams and What They Say About You.
The audience would be able to find answers about certain common dream, get free psychotherapy from my work at the same time. It could helping increasing the audience’s awareness of the mental health issues lead by dreams on the other hand.
